About Us
The Red Barn Pony Park is a full-service equestrian facility in the Sumter area and was founded in November 1997. In addition to trail rides, lessons, parties, hayrides and field trips, we also board and sell horses. Any horses that are sold are carefully matched to the experience level and expectations of the rider.
Facility
We offer a covered eating or meeting area with picnic tables. This area is often used as a staging area for parties and field trips and offers full cover, electricity, and cooking grills. It is conveniently located near the pony ride arena, show arena, barn, and petting zoo areas.
Show Arena
The park has a 250' by 150' show arena for training in various English and Western
riding disciplines. This is where dressage, jumping, reining, and barrel racing training takes place. The show ring is
full size which facilitates proper preparation for students wishing to enter competitive horse shows. The Park's
students have won many awards at shows around the state including a best in state at the South Carolina State Fair.
Pony Ride and Lunging Arena
For pony rides a 60' diameter ring is often used. It can also be used as a lunging area
where horses are exercised. This is one of the first areas used at The Park back in 1997, primarily for
birthday parties.
The Barn
From the horses' perspective, the barn is the
focal point of The Park. It is where the sweet feed and oats
are stored! From The Park's perspective, it also houses the saddles,
blankets, reins and miscellaneous tack. The barn is emblematic of
our name.
The barn has six stalls and was built in two levels.
Veterinarian and Farrier
Our veterinarian group is critical to our
business. The Park relies on Equicare Veterinary Associates who specialize
in equine care and treatment. They are based in Hopkins, SC.
Hoof care is of primary concern for horses and we regularly use Golden R Stables, The farrier has about twenty years of experience in Shoeing, Trimming, and General Hoof Care.
